You are not who you think you are. So, who are you?

That’s just who I am.

I jump to conclusions and act fast.

That’s just who I am.

So I guess that sums me up. Now who are you?

Hold up….WHAT?

Today I was content hungry. With the recent launch of Introverted Girl Boss, I naturally feel obligated to give. Give content, give hope and give trust that as an introvert, your voice can be heard. My mind had a thousands thoughts on content. My online planner was full of ideas. My phone even had a list of ideas in the notes section. So what did I do when it was time to work on the content? Go with a whim of an idea that wasn’t even on the list.

Earlier today I was browsing snapchat and a Youtuber that I follow posted a snap that went something like this…

“You guys have asked for it so its finally here! My gratitude calendar will be available for November 1st!”

With that I jumped to conclusions and said well if her audience wants it, mine must want it too! I spent an hour after work trying to create a gratitude calendar for my audience. I couldn’t figure out certain things which led to frustration. At the hour mark I wanted to give up. Is this me? What is this calendar giving my audience that will benefit me in the long run?

Sitting back in my chair slumped over in defeat, I said these words out loud…

Now normally, I would shut down my computer and call it a night. Letting my mind take over was a normal occurrence. However, tonight was different. Last week I picked up a book from my local library called Flawd (by Emily-Anne Rigal) and even though I’m only 50 pages in, my mind is already shifting.

That’s just who I am?

Am I defined by jumping to conclusions and acting fast?

Will that be listed under the definition of Jessica Shaw?

NO, NO and NO. You see, that’s not me at all. That is just how my brain is programmed because that’s the only way I knew (yes past-tense because your girl isn’t there anymore). With the book Flawd you learn that you are NOT defined by your flaws and you can learn to change them.

I jumped up from my desk and said I NEED A BREAK. Keeping myself busy and away from my desk actually helped save me. Flawd kept popping into my head and I kept reminding myself, that is not me. I can find a way to make it work.

I was reminding myself what Introverted Girl Boss is over and over in my head. Creating a gratitude calendar for my audience is not the road I want to go down. I want something deep, make you jump from your chair deep. With that 20 minutes away from my desk I had it solved.

You see, without reading Flawd I would have chalked it up to I jump to conclusion and I act fast. So fast that I end up wasting my time. That would have been that and I would have accomplished nothing.

Who are you is my next project for Introverted Girl Boss. Every person needs to realize they are not defined by their “flaws”. You can accomplish anything you set out to do. The first step is realizing your brain is a powerful part of you that defines your destiny.

Lets work on that first. Then you can take on the world.

Introverts Guide to Survive The 9-5! FREE!

Office life can be exhausting. Actually, office life is exhausting. Even more so if you’re an introvert. It takes special skills to not punch someone in the face for talking so much. Girl bye.

I’ve created a FREE guide for surviving the 9-5, introvert style. Want yours? Fill out the below form and it will be on its way!

How Introverts Can Make Friends!

Making friends is hard as you get older…even more so if you’re an introvert. It’s just so much work. Who asks who to hang out? Will she think I’m a lesbian who’s hitting on her? I just want to drink wine with someone…

We tend to overthink EVERYTHING. With so many thoughts going through our mind and all of the worst case scenarios coming up first, our natural instinct is to retreat. We don’t talk to people who we think look fun and interesting. How will we ever make friends?

In comes bumble BFF. This is the one and only time I’ll say “thank god I’m single! I would have never found this app” 😒😒😒😒

If you aren’t fimiliar with Bumble, it’s a dating app that happens to have a friend or BFF section within. When you set up your profile with Bumble you will have a chance to write a little about yourself.

Do not hold back, do not hesitate, do not skip this very important step….

Write the following:

“I am in introvert”

Or something along those lines! Tell people right away who you are! You have no idea how excited I get when I come across a profile that says the person who is an introvert. YASSSS WE DONT HAVE TO GO IN PUBLIC TO HANG OUT. You will attract friends simply from including introvert in your description.

And now your fear is setting in…

But what if people don’t like me? I saw a girl that looked so fun but we weren’t a match…

You’ll never know if someone doesn’t swipe right on you (match with you) because they could not be using the app anymore! You’ll only match with people who genuinely want to be your friend and swipe right on you.

Once you match with a friend, start a conversation! Have the introvert conversation as an ice breaker. Share stories, laugh and plan to meet. When you meet in person it will be like you’ve known them forever!

Has anyone used Bumble BFF? Do you love it as much as me? Drop your answers in the comments below!

How To Stay Social – #coffeetalkmonday

Happy #coffeetalkmonday! Coffee talk Monday is the typical Monday morning when you’re still wishing it was the weekend and hoping that chugging coffee will help ease the pain of weekday reality.

Today’s topic is all about staying social when all you want to do is stay home and in your comfort zone. This topic is important for winter especially because when it gets dark at 5pm, we now have an automatic excuse to stay home because like isn’t it almost bed time? Ok, maybe I’m the only one who uses that excuse.

Staying SOCIAL does not necessarily mean being with PEOPLE. That’s the first thing you have to realize.

We naturally get into patterns without even realizing it and breaking the patterns can be difficult. Everyone knows the pattern of not going to the gym leads to paying for a Planet Fitness membership for 2 years for no reason at all.

As introverts, it is easy for us to get in the pattern of staying home and in our comfort zone. Here are some tips and tricks to break that habit.

1. Plan 1 thing to do a night

Have SOMETHING to do to keep you busy and hold yourself accountable. This could be going grocery shopping, going for a walk, window shopping, going to the library and going to the gym are just a few ideas.

2. Start a TV series with a friend

Every week alternate places to watch the series. One week have your friend over and the next week go to her/his house. This will get you into a pattern of holding yourself accountable for that particular night while not always watching Netflix alone. Eventually start to include other people in your Netflix night. When you add one person to the mix at a time, you’ll be more comfortable building up to a large group of people while still being comfy, curled up on the couch. You don’t have to go out to have fun…we all know that! Make the most of your Netflix night and bring a dish to your friends house. It will give you something to do and each week it will be fun to try new foods even from the comfort of your own home.

3. Go somewhere new

Always go to the same coffee shop? Always get lunch at the same place? Go somewhere NEW. This ties back to the “routines” I was talking about earlier. Going somewhere new is not only exciting but you could potentially meet someone new there. Gain a friend at a coffee shop or take in different sights at a local lunch spot. Getting yourself out there is the first step so you might as well spice it up and try something new…even if it’s for a few minutes!

My challenge to you is to implement one of the above items into your week, this week. See where it takes you, who you’ll meet or what new series is waiting for you on Netflix.

Coming up with a business name is harder than you think.

Trying to determine a name for your new business is like trying to get out of bed when you’re exhausted…it’s impossible.

I was sitting there staring at a blank piece of paper waiting for words to appear and have magic take over. Nothing happened.

Like the genius that I am, I knew what I needed to do. Go shopping. I left the house and eased my mind of the pressure by pampering myself with trying on all the latest fall fashion. Would you believe it actually helped?

Sometimes when we are under pressure we simply shut down. Our mind slows and the creativity goes out the window. It wasn’t until I left the house that my mind starting flooding with ideas again.

FIND YO’ NICHE! That’s what everyone tells you but sometimes the hardest things to figure out are within. That’s when I stepped back and said girlfriend you have to write down characteristics about yourself to find your niche.

First thing on my list was in big bold letters.

And with that my list was done. I couldn’t find anything more rewarding than helping other people just like me.

I’ve created a quick Q&A for you below because I’m home alone (naturally) and entertaining myself by talking to myself.

Q: If you are an introvert, how could you help another introvert?
A: Introverts feel most comfortable with another introvert. We just vibe. Taking my wealth of knowledge and giving it to someone who I know is listening and open to change is the best of both worlds. Together, we will come up with the best plan for you in a friendly and relaxing atmosphere.

Q: What services will you offer?
A: 1 on 1 coaching will be one of my main services to start with. A monthly success package with everything you need to succeed in your goals will be my next service. Many more to come after that!

Q: Will you do any in person coaching?
A: YES! I will be doing in coaching meet-ups for anyone in the NH/MA area.

Q: What will I get out of coaching? Why is it for me?
A: Feeling empowered is one of the best gifts someone can give you. It awakens your soul, your mind, your body and plans for your future. A coaching session will give you a guide and ideas to plan out an outcome that is achievable for you. You will have a listening ear to your struggles, understanding how to cope with the struggle, planning out a resolution and working towards the end result.

Better You Boo! Where online business and personal growth are our thing.

Hi! My name is Jessica and I am obsessed with helping other people achieve their goals from small to big because a win is a win. Am I right?!

Earlier this year I was part of a MLM company that literally slapped me in the face in a good way. I fell in love with connecting with people, creating a brand, marketing and helping people feel better in general. Ultimately I decided to stop selling because it didn’t interest me to learn about the products. My interest was in the people that surrounded my new brand. Helping them succeed and connecting with like minded people was that “ah-ha” moment for me. THIS is where I need to be.

I lived in facebook groups…quite literally. The sisterhood, the knowledge, the like minded people…it just spoke to me. We do so much research when we become invested in something such as reading books, watching documentaries or maybe even interning when some of the best up front knowledge is right on facebook. Don’t think you got out of reading books….books are still very important.

Fast forward to today. I’ve taken the leap and created my own little group in the world of Facebook. My group is called BETTER YOU BOO and will be your saving grace if you are looking for help with any of the following-

-Self help

-Goal setting

-Creating a business

-Personal advice

-Communication advice

-Social media

-Career guidance

So head on over to facebook and make sure you join my new group called BETTER YOU BOO! You don’t want to miss all the freebies coming out soon!
